Opening Ceremony of The fine Ceramics and Porcelain Ware Exhibition by China Master Artists

(3 February 2010, Macau) The Opening Ceremony of the “Fine Ceramics and Porcelain Ware Exhibition” (“The Exhibition”) by China Famous Master Artists organized by Association of Cultural Ceramic Art of Macau and co-organized by L’Arc New World Hotel Macau is successfully held today at L’Arc New World Hotel Macau. The exhibition aims at promoting the development of Macau’s economy and cross-cultural undertakings and enhancing the cultural exchanges of ceramic art with Foshan Shiwan, Guangdong and Jingdezhen, Jiangxi. Exhibition period is 3 February (Wednesday) to 8 February 2010 (Monday).

The Association of Cultural Ceramic Art of Macau and L'Arc New World Hotel Macau hoped the Exhibition would promote the joining of Macau cultural undertaking with travel and exhibition/convention undertakings so as to further explore cross-cultural tourist projects and elevate the awareness of cross-cultural undertakings by the local citizens and tourists from all parts of the world.

The Exhibition assembles over one hundred pieces of ceramic works that have been created since the founding of the People’ashrae 62.1 ashrae 90.1 asme y14.5 api std 650 2014 api standards asme b31.3 asme section II api spec 6a s Republic of China, including Shiwan ceramics and Jingdezhen ceramics. Among them, those themed with the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China are of high value for appreciation. At the exhibition, renowned Chinese ceramic artists such as state ceramic art masters Liu Zenmian and Liu Bing would give professional presentations on ceramic technology with a view of deepening understanding and promoting China’s traditional ceramic art and culture.

Featuring a 5000-year history, Shiwan ceramics blend the human “spirit” and “emotions”. On the exhibition, the ceramic works created by such Chinese ceramic masters as Liu Zenmian are vividly displayed. The Shiwan ceramic works on display fall into the following categories: myths and legends (the Ghost-buster Zhong Kui, Buddhist Damo and Luohan, etc.); historic heroes (Chairman Mao, Sun Ya-sen, Lao Zi and Confucius, etc.) and religious art (Buddhist Guan Yin, Sakyamuni Buddha and Jesus Christ, etc.); custom of minorities (Great joy and drunk happiness), etc. And the ceramic works from Jingdezhen and Jiangxi include ceramic paintings (pine trees in the wind in water color by Wang Huaijun and eagle ceramic painting by He Shushui), as well as decorative vase series (pearl colorful decorative vase by Lai Dequan), which are all the refined works of great Chinese art masters.

Among the refined works, the one named “Founding Ceremony” with the theme on the late Chairman Mao Zedong is especially significant. It is based on the grand founding ceremony of the new republic held on 1 October 1949, when about 300 thousand civilians and military personnel assembled at the Tiananmen Square and Chairman Mao declared to the whole world the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Liu Zemian, who created his first work of Chairman Mao’s portrait at the age of 13 in 1949, deliberately created this work as a witness to the glorious achievements during the past 60 years since the founding of the Republic. It is lifelike and issued with limited quantity, boasting great value for collection and appreciation.
